This weekend (26–28 June 2026), the temporary border crossing on the Bega Canal opens once again for cyclists and pedestrians, connecting communities between Romania and Serbia.
The route from Timișoara to Zrenjanin is a beautiful 70-kilometre trail, with 37 kilometres on the Romanian side. Although the path is currently undergoing upgrades, construction work stops for the weekend, leaving the route fully accessible.
It is a wonderful opportunity for a weekend in nature, supporting sustainable travel and bringing neighbours closer together.
If you plan to visit Zrenjanin, you can find local accommodation and dining options at www.visitzrenjanin.com.
