It begins with training.

As extreme weather, severe wildfires, and floods become more frequent across Europe, crises increasingly cross national lines. Disasters do not stop at borders and neither can the teams sent to fight them. Right across the continent, shared preparedness and cross-border solidarity are becoming essential to protecting lives, property, and natural habitats.

A new specialised cross-border training facility for Romanian and Serbian firefighters is nearing completion in Timis County. Built through the COOP project, it will provide a modern space where firefighters from both countries can train together, exchange experience and strengthen the cooperation that helps them respond more effectively when emergencies happen.

With a total budget of €9.5 million, the project is implemented by the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of Romania, the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia and the “Banat” Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of Timis County.

Because stronger cooperation today means safer communities tomorrow.
