Through the Friendship Bridges project, four schools across Romania and Serbia are joining forces to give local children better opportunities to learn, explore, and connect across the border. By promoting equal access to inclusive, quality education, the initiative also aims to keep young people in school.

From Moldova Nouă to Golubac and Braničevo, the project is upgrading local facilities and transport, funding minibuses, IT kits, and new playgrounds, alongside cross-border cultural festivals, workshops, and teacher-student exchanges.

Yet the most meaningful connections aren’t built with concrete or technology. They happen when children meet face-to-face, learn together, stay curious about each other’s lives, and form lasting friendships.

As the new term starts this September, it’s a fitting reminder that every new school year is a fresh chance to build new bonds.
