More than 7,000 years ago, people gathered at Parța around a sanctuary built to understand the world, nature, and their place within it.
Today, that same heritage still speaks about our past and the connections between local communities.
On the International Day for Monuments and Sites, we are reminded that heritage is what we preserve and carry forward together. This year’s theme highlights the importance of protecting living heritage: the knowledge, traditions, and practices that keep communities resilient in times of change.
Across the Romania-Serbia border, Parța and Majdan are part of one shared story. Supported by the European Union through the Interreg-IPA Cross-border Cooperation Romania-Serbia Programme (2014-2020), these sites are being rediscovered, reconnected and brought back into the life of communities on both sides.
