In the spirit of protecting our planet, we are looking at how cross-border cooperation is solving local environmental challenges.
Small communities like Moldova Nouă, Coronini (Romania), and Golubac (Serbia) often face common environmental threats but lack the resources and coordination to tackle them alone. Without a unified plan, local authorities struggle with inadequate equipment and the knowledge needed to manage waste and protect nature effectively.
Turning Strategy into Action
To meet these challenges head-on, the GREEN FUTURE project is using a total budget of €1,733,390.10 to transform how they manage their impact on the environment:
- Modern Tools: Providing state-of-the-art equipment to improve waste collection and rehabilitate degraded areas in Moldova Nouă, Golubac, and Coronini.
- Smart Planning: Developing a joint 10-year prognosis and risk analysis to ensure long-term environmental commitment from local councils.
- The 5Rs Approach: Focusing on waste prevention and recycling through the 5R principles (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, Recycle).
- Youth Awareness: Hosting school campaigns and DIY projects with recycled materials to inspire eco-friendly habits from an early age.
By working together, these partners are ensuring a cleaner, safer environment for over 16,000 citizens.
The project RORS00239 “Common challenges, common solutions” (GREEN FUTURE) is co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg IPA Romania-Serbia Programme.
