What connects high blood pressure and cognitive decline? And how can medical expertise help improve prevention, early detection and patient care?
These questions brought medical specialists together in Timișoara on 21–22 October for the roundtable “The Winding Path from Hypertension to Cognitive Decline”, organised within the NEURO-CARDIO HEALTH project.
The two-day discussions explored the links between hypertension, cardiovascular risk and cognitive impairment, including the role of early screening, 24-hour blood pressure monitoring and multidisciplinary care.
Two countries, a shared commitment to better healthcare.
Led by the Specialised Hospital for Psychiatric Diseases “Dr Slavoljub Bakalović” in Vršac, Serbia, in partnership with the Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases in Timișoara, Romania, the project supports the modernisation of healthcare capacity on both sides of the border.
With a total budget of €2.35 million, including €2 million in EU funding, the project includes a new medical rehabilitation unit in Vršac and the acquisition of a monoplanar angiograph in Timișoara.
The NEURO-CARDIO HEALTH project is co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg IPA Romania-Serbia Programme.
