How long must a project display its billboards to meet the EU funding requirements?

After reading the VIM, have you ever wondered about the difference between could and should? Some questions have clear answers, while for others, we rely on the European Commission for clarification. As a project beneficiary, you may already be familiar with the communication requirements outlined in the VIM of the Programme.

Here’s an important one: For projects exceeding EUR 100,000 each partner must acknowledge EU support by displaying durable plaques or billboards, clearly visible to the public, as soon as project implementation involving physical investment begins or purchased equipment is installed.

But what does “durable” mean in terms of timing? You’re not alone in asking! According to the European Commission, in this context, “durable” means the billboard or plaque must remain in place as long as the relevant physical object, infrastructure, or construction exists.

As a project partner, you should display the permanent billboard or plaque at the location of the investment, while you could place additional posters in different locations.
