Promoting resilience of health systems and equal access to skin and liver care through Romanian-Serbian screening and treatment solutions

Exciting news: the ”Victor Babeș” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Timișoara, in partnership with ”Đorđe Joanović” General Hospital in Zrenjanin, launched the HEPASKIN project – ”Promoting resilience of health systems and equal access to skin and liver care through Romanian-Serbian screening and treatment solutions”!

With a total budget of €2,041,920.48, the project will improve access to modern screening, diagnosis, and treatment for skin and liver cancer patients in the Romania-Serbia cross-border region.

🔹 Key project objectives include:
✅ Screening for 1,500 skin cancer and 1,000 liver cancer patients,
✅ Early diagnosis and treatment, including surgical intervention,
✅ Enhancing medical infrastructure with AI-powered videodermatoscopes, advanced ultrasound machines, and laparoscopic and liver resection equipment,
✅ Training 40 healthcare providers in dermatology, surgery, plastic surgery, and gastroenterology,
✅ Establishing two regional registries to monitor diagnosed patients.

A key aspect of the project includes specialised training courses for Romanian and Serbian doctors and other healthcare professionals. These sessions will be held at the Pius Brînzeu Training and Experimental Surgery Centre in Timișoara, modernised through a previous project financed under the Interreg-IPA Cross-border Cooperation Romania-Serbia Programme 2014-2020.

Together, we are building a healthier future!

Project co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg IPA Romania-Serbia Programme.
