Treasure Hunt on the EuroVelo 13 Route

On Saturday, 4 July 2026, starting at 10:00 a.m., Timis County Council is organising a unique experience on two wheels, dedicated to sustainable travel, local history, the heritage of the Bega Canal, and slow tourism.

The adventure begins at the Sânmihaiu Român lock and continues along the Bega Canal cycle path, covering the section between Sânmihaiu Român and Otelec.

Participants will set off on a team-based cycling treasure hunt, where they will solve clues and challenges, uncover local stories, and learn more about the Bega, its lock system, navigation, and local communities. To wrap up the day, the teams will be rewarded with prizes!

This event is open to individuals over the age of 18 who are passionate about cycling, nature, heritage, and slow tourism.

What is included:

  • Transport provided for both participants and bicycles
  • Water and snacks along the route

The event is organized by Timis County Council as part of the ”Cycling along Iron Curtain Trail – EuroVelo13 in Banat” Cycling ROSE project, co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg IPA Romania-Serbia Programme.
